LOCATION

Cherucheril home stay is in the centre of Kumarakom near the Electricity office. The State Govt. of Kerala (Dept. of Tourism) has approved home stay unit.

Kumarakom is a village which is partly reclaimed from the lake 'Vembanad' the biggest natural lake in south India. It is a very convenient and ideal place to stay and enjoy the sightseeing at Kumarakom. The entire village is a coconut plantation with a nervous system of canals and backwaters, which is abound with a rich variety of fishes. Kumarakom is surrounded by paddy fields on north, east & south sides fishing, duck rearing, gathering of lime shells from the bottom of the lake mining of sand and day for various purposes for earth works as well as constructions of home and bund. Coir manufacturing in an important occupation of people. There is no factory in Kumarakom. The sky in invariably clear. The atmosphere is noise free and unpolluted. Sunset in clearly visible. Sun rising from the western ghat mountains 150 km east can be seen from some places.

FOOD

Meals are arranged according to your tastes with lake fishes, like pearl spots (Karimeen), Prawns, crab, lobstar and the like. They are cooked in the special traditional Kerala style whose taste last for hours. Kerala fish curry is quite demanding. Both Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian dishes together with variety of fresh water fish dishes are available. Snacks and cool drinks are also available. Tender coconut are the speciality of the area for drinking.

ENTERTAINMENTS

We arrange sight-seeing trips to Pathiramanal (an Island) R. Block, The Bird Sanctuary, Thannermukkom bund and suburban water ways by motor boats / Speed Boats. FISHING is also a good entertainment.
